Catchup

21/08/2015

After being sick, I was lucky enough to have a catch-up lesson!

I began re-coding the template website given to us, and swapped between:
Illustrator (for correct colors and sliced images)
                      Photoshop (For cropping certain images)
                      Google Chrome (for preview)

to achieve the final product

/ Coding Commences /

Today we commenced the coding of our webpages, we covered tags like the
<div> </div> tags and how to format the code. As you can see it really stacks up!

We also began our introduction to CSS, which allowed us to change the overall
webpage colour (Color...) by linking it under the <head> tag.
WOOOOOW! SO ORANGE!

29th - It Hath Begun

/ It Hath Begun /

Today I finished:

  • Internet History Post
  • Blogspot Banner Image
  • HTML Information
  • Dream Weaver Test Page

29th - Banner work

29/7/2015
/ Banner Work /

I began work on the banner for my blog, i decided to keep it relevant to my Grey / Orange theme which I like very much. To get the particular oranges and Greys I needed, I extracted the colour codes from Blogger's customization page. I then noticed pixelation (to be expected) and decided to bring the work into Illustrator and start fresh, but following the same kind of style and design that i used on the previous version.

Orange: #ff9900
Grey: #1c1c1c

Photoshop Version 1
Photoshop Version 2
Illustrator Final Version (For now?)
Final product. I'm happy with this!

29th - History of web

29/07/2015

/ A Brief History of Web /

The Web (or internet) was created by Sir Tim Berners-Lee, whom graduated from Oxford University and was hired into CERN as a software engineer. Many of his colleagues had great trouble sharing documents and information between each other, most of the issues being logging into computers locally to pick up a file rather than it being sent. Sir Tim Berners-Lee devised a plan to interlink all computers into a technological web (hence the name). In 1989, his first propositions for the idea were not accepted at first, his superiors found the idea "Vague but exciting" but gave him personal time to work on the project (The project not an official CERN project).

Sir Tim Berners-Lee
By October 1990, Tim had written about the webs main three fundamental technologies which we know today as:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  1. HTML: HyperText Markup Language. The markup (formatting) language for the Web.
  2. URI: Uniform Resource Identifier. A kind of “address” that is unique and used to identify to each resource on the Web. It is also commonly called a URL.
  3. HTTP: Hypertext Transfer Protocol. Allows for the retrieval of linked resources from across the Web.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The first Web Page was made open on the growing Internet, and in 1991, people outside of the offices of CERN were able to access the Web and its growing community.

22nd - New Beginnings

/ New Beginnings /

Welcome!

This is my first post on my blogspot, Syrup Graphics. Today I have created this blogspot with the purpose of displaying my skills as a growing graphic and web designer. On this site you will find examples of my work and blog entry's on the progress of my Web Media1 course and other graphic design works.

Today as an introduction to web media we watched an online Youtube documentary called Virtual Revolution by the BBC. The documentary covered the history of the Internets creation and its effect on societies around the globe, and how it affects freedom and expression for people.
